Guest reading at Smokelong Quarterly

I'm excited to be guest reading at one of my favourite writing venues, Smokelong Quarterly, the week of October 17th. So if you have a story under 1,000 words that you think I'll love, please submit to the magazine following the website guidelines during that week. If you're brand new to the venue, here's the story I had published in Smokelong a while ago. And here's my interview with them. All stories will be read blind, so I won't know whose stories I'm seeing, but you know the sort of thing I love. Dark, funny, moving, character-led, offbeat, horny. Or simply honest.

Great, thanks, Rosalind! I read all stories anonymously as that's how the system works. But looking forward to reading all the stories I'm sent.

Hi Sarah, Will stories submitted via magazine be just for you to read or will they be considered as also submitted to the magazine? I have a couple I've submitted to competitions which I don't want to withdraw and assume a 'reading' by you would not count as 'previously published'. However, if the magazine accepts it for publication, I'll need to withdraw from competition.

Hi Deb,

Unless I choose yours as my winning story, in which case it will be published OR I select it as worthy of being read by the main editors at a later date and they select it for publication, it won't count as "previously published" for the purposes you describe.

Hope this helps.
