This journal has just published its Fall issue, which includes my story, Gentian blue. It looks really lovely in situ, I'm delighted with it! This site has a facility to leave comments, but you need to register with a user name and email. I'm grateful for all/any comments, as usual. Thanks!

Congrats, Sarah. Juicebox, Smokelong - you're getting into all my faves!

Thanks, Nik. Did I ever tell you how much I enjoyed your grenade story in SLQ?
You can tell me that kind of thing as often as you like! Thanks - glad you liked it.
Just read Gentian Blue - it was great; I liked the drive that had been tortured by a rake.

Thanks, Nik! It was re-reading your grenade story after a series of rejections from SQL that gave me the idea of subbing the story they snapped up. So thanks again for a great read and the inspiration!
Oops! Sorry, Nik that sounds like I plagiarised your story, doesn't it? I didn't, of course. It's just that the narrative style in which you told the story - very honest, and straightforward, factual - made me change tack in what I was subbing and try the story which they accepted (which was actually one of the very first short stories I wrote two years ago when I returned to this writing lark). Not a grenade in sight, I promise, although it does reference the war.
Yikes, Sarah! No need to fret! Promise. I'm really pleased and flattered that something I wrote helped or even inspired you. That's a good thing!
And I'm dead pleased you're in SLQ - I love that place.
Nik
